Takola Thai Restaurant (Bib Gourmand, Michelin Guide 2021 & 2022)
Experience culinary time-travel at Takola. Harkening to bygone era, Takola takes its name from the ancient name of the nearby town of Takuapa. Every dish served at Takola Thai Restaurant is made with fresh ingredients sourced from the local communities, using authentic Southern Thai recipes handed down for generations to our Executive Chef. The genuinely local Thai cuisine is healthy and supports traditional ways of life here in Khao Lak. By sourcing the vast majority of ingredients locally, Takola Thai Restaurant aims to help the local economy as well as reduce its carbon footprint. Sustainability is at the core of what Takola Thai Restaurant offers.
Takola has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a private room which seats up to ten guests. There is also a wine room with a vast selection of old and new world wines, including premium vintages from Thailand.

Devasom Beach Grill and Bar
Devasom Beach Grill and Bar offers classic Mediterranean fare next to the sea, with stunning sunset views. The menu is diverse with Italian pasta favorites, delicious meats and seafood from the grill seasoned to perfection and wood-oven fired pizza. The sunsets are among the best Thailand has to offer. For visitors to Khao Lak looking to indulge in their favorite western dishes, this is the place.

2. Cafes in and around Khao Lak
Ocean Man Café
Ocean Man, is a chill little cafe with a beautiful sea view in Khao Lak. The front is decorated with red brick arranged in a curved shape with different heights, inspired by the shape of the ocean waves. The shop provides homemade baked goods, a wide range of drinkables and other foods. You can’t go wrong with the Matcha Latte and Cheesecake! The menu here uses mostly local ingredients.

Garang Artisan Ice Cream
Garang Artisan Ice Cream is a cute café in Khao Lak with good atmosphere, delicious desserts and sea views. The facade is decorated in attractive white and orange tones and faces the sea, offering a picturesque vista. The shop offers more than 70 flavors of classic and rare homemade ice cream, as well as other desserts and local specialties. A big bonus is the large skating rink outside (bring your own skates).

Kopi Kuapa Café
This coffee shop in the old town of Takuapa, just north of Khao Lak, is in a renovated 100-year-old house with artsy seating outside and inside at the Chinese teahouse. The upper floor is arranged as a meeting room in vintage style. Recommended are coffees like Kopi Guo Pa or the old fashioned Kopi Or. There are famous local snacks from Takuapa and fusion desserts, such as tofu ice cream and echo ice cream.

Soul Friend & Spiritual Garden
Self described as a “Psychedelic & Mindfulness Bookshop”, Soul Friend & Spiritual Garden is a welcome addition to the Khao Lak neighborhood. Opening in October 2022, it features a collection of books focusing on mindfulness, religion, philosophy, and history. Books can be found in both Thai and English languages. In addition to books, visitors can also partake of a very nice selection of drinks with matcha, cacao or cannabis. Community events are also organized including sound therapy sessions, breathwork, meditation, readings, and yoga.

3. Golf Courses Near Khao Lak
Tublamu Navy Golf Course
The Phang Nga Navy Base, located at the southern end of Khao Lak, offers an 18-Hole, 72 Par seaside fairway with equipment, carts and caddy service for rent and is fairly inexpensive. It is known as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Thailand allowing you to enjoy the inspiring scenery of Son Ngam Beach. However, it is also a challenging course where you can develop your skills, with a driving range and a club house with facilities for friends and family.
Tublamu Navy Golf Course is located in Muang District, Phang Nga province, a 45-minute drive north of Phuket Airport and only a 10-20 minute drive from most hotels in Khao Lak.

Kirinara Golf Course
This 9-hole 36 par course is only 25 minutes from Khao Lak. In Japanese, ‘Kiri’ means mountain, while ‘Nara’ refers to water or prosperity; thus ‘Kirinara’ perfectly describes the scenery. Its Japanese design offers natural beauty and plenty of challenges, suitable for every level of skill. A natural stream flowing down from the mountain, supplies the course’s water.

4. Surfing in Khao Lak Beaches
Khao Lak has you covered if you’re planning to catch some waves during your holiday. The best spot for surfing in Khao Lak is Memories Beach and the best waves of the year are coming in from May to October You can bring your own surfboard or sign-up for lessons.
5. Day Trips From Khao Lak
Khao Sok and Ratchaprapha Dam
Khao Sok National Park is a nature reserve in southern Thailand. It is known for containing dense virgin jungle and stunning limestone towers called karst formations. It’s main attraction however is Ratchaprapha Dam and the lake it forms, Cheow Lan Lake. Khao Sok is home to rare species such as the giant parasitic Rafflesia flower, hornbill birds, gibbons and even tigers. The park can be explored on an elephant-back safari, along hiking trails, or by raft, canoe or kayaking on the Sok river.
Khao Sok and Ratchaprapha Dam are located 1.5 hours away from Khao Lak.

Chong Fah Waterfall
This beautiful and pristine spot is located within the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park of Takua Pa District, in Phang Nga Province. The waterfall has 7 tiers, with different aspects of beauty at each level. It falls down a steep cliff into a basin below where you can swim and relax. It’s a marvelous place for hiking and enjoying nature, at its best probably in December and January every year.
Samet Nangshe
Samet Nangshe is a series of breathtaking viewpoints in Phang Nga Province. Visitors look over a large mangrove forest veined with rivers and streams while in the background there are limestone karst formations jutting from the calm waters of Phang Nga Bay. Some say that Samet Nangshe is the most beautiful panorama in Thailand. Visitors are able to stay in tents or bungalows rented there to catch the magnificent sunrise. Samet Nangshe is about 2 hours from Phuket and Khao Lak.
